Srinagar, Mar 31 (KNO): A fire incident in the Haba Kadal area of Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon damaged four residential houses and left two fire personnel injured, officials said here.
As per details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the blaze was reported at around 2:05 PM, following which fire tenders from multiple stations were rushed to the spot.
“On arrival, firefighters found two structures initially engulfed in flames and launched simultaneous operations to contain the fire,” officials said.
“However, the situation worsened due to a gas cylinder explosion, coupled with public interference and lack of cooperation, leading to the fire spreading to adjoining structures and partially damaging them, taking the total number of affected houses to four,” they added.
Officials said that during the firefighting operation, two personnel sustained injuries. They were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad, posted at F&ES Headquarters Batamaloo and fireman Fahmeed Ahmad, who was injured after a fall while performing his duties.
“Both were shifted to a nearby hospital, where their condition is stable,” they said.
Officials added that no loss of life has been reported in the incident and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the fire.
